Pilots take no joy in
walking. Pilots like flying. - Neil Armstrong
The Eagle
Flight Project will be completed in three different
phases.
Phase IUSA
TOUR
Phase I began in
Boise, Idaho on May 28, 2005 with an emphasis on
North America. Eagle Flight pilot Jared Aicher flew
a Cessna 172M, provided by West Mesa Aviation of
Albuquerque, New Mexico, across the northern United
States to Maine and then down the eastern seaboard
to Florida. From Florida, the route continued west
across the southern United States to the California
coast and then north to Oregon, Washington and back
to Boise, Idaho. More than 100 children received
free flights in 41 of the lower 48 United States in
only 33 days! Jared visited an average of three
states per day during this time. Along with Jared
during the Phase I tour were Eagle Flight crew
members Stacey Commer and Kerry Widmer. Utah Valley
State College, a major supporter of the Eagle
Flight, also accompanied Jared in their Diamond Star
aircraft promoting the EAA's Aeroscholars Program.
Phase II –
World Tour begins: Canada
and Caribbean
The Phase II tourwill
begin on June 17, 2006 when Eagle Flight pilot Jared
Aicher of Boise, Idaho begins his world tour,
continuing the mission of the Eagle Flight on a
global scale. During the summer flight, Jared will
land in each of the 10 Canadian Provinces, Alaska,
Colorado and North Dakota offering an additional 100
rides to youth. November of 2006, will take Jared
and the team through out the Caribbean,
providing an additional 100 rides in 10 days,
picking up the route from 2005 that was cancelled
due to the record breaking hurricane season.
Phase III –World Tour continues: Central
and South America & Europe
Phase III begins in early 2007 through each of the
countries in Central and South America. The 2007
tour will
be providing an additional 200 rides to the Eagle
Flight mission log after touring 20 more countries
throughout
Europe in the summer.
AROUND THE
WORLD SOLO-
This goal is ever-present in the minds of the Eagle
Flight team, however we must also remind ourselves
that this is a dangerous mission in and of itself,
so we will wait out some of the hostilities in the
Middle East and continue the mission and fundraising
to make this dream a reality. Thank you for you
continuous support.
