Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail."

History of The Eagle Flight

Many children, including myself, can remember looking to the sky as a child and watching the contrails of a passing jet stretch from one horizon to the next.  Where did he come from?  Where was he headed I wondered to myself?  Over two and a half decades ago, my summer mornings and afternoons were spent watching the skies near the edge of the fields where I grew up, waiting for the yellow low-wing crop-duster to return and perform his aerial show.  I would begin waving frantically as the pilot flew by, and wait patiently for him to wave his wings back and forth to the eager young boy below.  To this day, I'm sure that pilot has no idea of the impact he or she had on my life.

Many children's dreams of flight are never realized due to the high costs of operating an aircraft or a lack of local resources to spark an interest in aviation.  The goal of The Eagle Flight is to help children around the world realize their dreams of flight, get them into the cockpit, and register each one as a Young Eagle member.

I, along with an international team of experts from Canada, founded The Eagle Flight Project in early 2004 with a goal to register over 400 young aviation enthusiasts from around the world with the Experimental Aircraft Association's (EAA) Young Eagles Program.  The Young Eagles Program,  led by actor Harrison Ford, was developed by the EAA to spark an interest in aviation among the planet's youth and keep it alive.  To date, pilots from around the world have donated their time, money, and aircraft to launch over one million children into the air.

If you would like to make a donation or become a sponsor for this incredible journey, please contact one of our staff members and we would be happy to speak with you.  Without the generous support of our sponsors, this trip would not be possible.  Thank you to everyone who has been involved with the project to date and we look forward to the year ahead!

Sincerely,

Jared A. Aicher
